Hernia Mesh Implant Lawsuit

Hernia mesh implant products have been associated with serious complications including infections, organ perforation, intestinal obstruction, and multiple surgeries to repair complications. Hernia mesh implant lawsuits are developing against the manufacturers of these hernia mesh products.

There are many surgical repairs that use a special synthetic mesh to repair a damaged area, and hernia repair is no exception. Most of the time, these surgeries are successful and result in no complications. Through the 2000s doctors chose to use synthetic mesh in over 90% of repairs in the groin area.

Of course, success depends on high quality, tested and proven safe materials used in the procedure. While there may be complications from any surgery, there are many occasions when difficulties arise from defective products used. If a manufacturer is made of aware of a problem with their product, they should issue a speedy recall and take them off the market. However, there are still liabilities that must be addressed in the meantime.

Are you experiencing discomfort after your hernia surgery?

Some patients have made complaints about Physiomesh and C-Our, from Johnson and Johnson and Atrium Medical, respectively. Both are subject to recall at the present time.

Defective hernia mesh can lead to the pain and expense of further surgery, this after suffering from complications beforehand.

Are you experiencing discomfort, missing work, feeling sick or otherwise aren’t back to normal after hernia surgery? If it’s because of defective hernia mesh, you have the right to file suit for personal injury or product liability.

You may be entitled to financial coverage of medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering penalties. In 2017, several claims arose against big medical device manufacturers, some of them are still pending. In 2011, C.E. Bard reported that they would settle defective hernia mesh claims for $184 million.

In 2016, there was a voluntary recall by Johnson and Johnson of their Ethicon Physiomesh™ Composite mesh product because of a pair of studies which showed a higher incidence of complications among patients who were administered their product.

The FDA issued a recall of Atrium Medical’s C-Our mesh in 2013 because of a flaw in the packaging, which turned out to be symptomatic of further problems in the company’s safety practices.

It may be time to do a little research. If you find that you had these or another mesh product implanted, and suffered illness or pain afterward, check with your doctor to eliminate any other possible reasons for the discomfort. After that, give Tate Law Group a call. We’ll check into the details and help you determine if you have a Hernia Mesh Implant lawsuit.

Could faulty hernia mesh make me ill?

Yes- problems can run from minor to life-threatening. You might experience problems with your liver or kidneys, neurological issues, autoimmune disorders, pain in the abdomen, groin, legs, or joints of the lower body, headaches, nausea, bowel or digestion issues, fevers or infection-related symptoms, even possible dental problems.

Talk to your doctor if you have any of these symptoms after a hernia mesh implant: Severe abdominal pain, rash or redness (edema) around the surgical site, fever, upset stomach or cramps. These are all signs of rejection of the device by your body, brought on by your autoimmune system. A bacterial infection is also a possibility.

There is a time limit to product liability claims. The “discoverability rule” comes into play in these cases, meaning that the period of taking action after you discover a problem is defined by law. These rules vary by state, so check with Tate Law Group for information about Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida.
