A former Catholic Priest has plead guilty to sexual assault claims this week. Wayland Brown entered a guilty plea on six counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor in the 2nd degree and three counts in the 1st degree. He was indicted in 2017 for sexual assault charges against two minors. He had been serving as the Catholic Diocese of Savannah.
Mark Tate of Tate Law Group represented the victims, saying “after 14 months of really hard-fought litigation where we discovered a lot of interesting things about the exact deception and depth of the problems at the Catholic Church, we successfully got them to confess a judgment in favor of our client for $4.5 million.”
Brown had previously been arrested of sexually assaulting two minors in Maryland in 2002. He is now to serve 20 years in prison.
